Sara Lee focuses
Consumer product maker Sara Lee sold its soap and personal care business to Unilever for 1.88 U.S. billion dollars.
It is a very smart move by Sara Lee, by getting rid of its non-food-related brands and focusing on its food business. Although this decision would have been tough for Sara Lee because the brands they sold were profitable, but this well timed move will reap its rewards in the future. The power of focus has been so undermined in corporate America, from companies acquiring brands and 'best fit' companies left and right, this move from Sara Lee will help it establish as a leader in its food and beverage business and also carve a strong positioning in the mind of the consumer.
The news of Unilever buying Sara Lee brands resulted in increase in Sara Lee's stock price by 6.9%, it is only the start of the positive results that Sara Lee is going to get as it truly exploits the power of FOCUS!
